The BMW India 5-Series Petrol variant has re-launched in India. Pricing starts from INR 54,00,000. Imported as a CBU unit may be the reason for the high price. The car is currently available for sale across all dealerships of BMW India.
The BMW 520i contains a 2.0-litre Twin Power Turbo, four-cylinder engine. It produces 184 hp and a peak torque of 270 Nm. Also, the engine is mated to an 8-Speed Steptronic gearbox. Also, It accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in 7.9 seconds. The top speed has been clocked at 235 kmph.
Moreover, The car has a lightweight construction, Auto Start/Stop, ECO PRO mode. It has a 50:50 weight distribution and Brake Energy Regeneration. Additional features range from Multi-Information Display (MID), the iDrive control system. It comes with a navigational system and a Harman Kardon surround sound. Bluetooth connectivity, rear view camera and park distance control are among other features.
Furthermore, Safety features include airbags to the front and the sides. The car has Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), Cornering Brake Control (CBC). It has Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) and a Dynamic Traction Control (DTC). In addition to this, the car also has an electromechanical parking brake with an electronic vehicle immobilizer. The car has a crash sensor with reinforced side walls.
Delhi-NCR banned diesel cars over 2,000 cc on 16th December 2015. While the entry level BMW model of this segment barely escaped. The affect of the ban was on the rest of the cars in this segment. So, the Indian car market then demonstrated an inclination towards petrol-powered cars. Consequently, petrol variants of the 3-Series and 5-Series entered India last year.
Further, the launch of the petrol version springs new hope for the automaker. It aims to regain its lost ground in the Indian market.
