Larsen & Toubro had reported acquiring the water and effluent treatment by its construction arm on March 5, 2019. They have further acquired more projects through multiple contracts. The water and effluent treatment project in Jharkhand, Tamil Nadu and Odisha were termed as major projects by the company. According to the classification of the funding of the project and it is classified as a major project, the valuation is in the range of Rs 2500 to Rs 5000 crore.
L&T’s engineering segment has also grabbed the project to develop the Cluster-8 marginal field, in Mumbai city. Under the EPCIC (Engineering Procurement Construction Installation and Commissioning) basis. Apart from these contracts, the company’s buildings and factories business has also bagged an infrastructure re-development contract.
Water and Resources development project:
The water and effluent projects aims at procuring lift irrigation schemes, water recycling, underground sewerage systems and water supply to the rural areas. The contracts acquired for these project are from clients from various states in India. Two orders from the water resources department have been secured in Tamil Nadu for the execution of Athikadavu-Avinashi scheme. This contract also includes construction of a regulator on the northern and southern sides of the Coleroon river. The Athikadavu-Avinashi scheme is to solve the rural problems. It is specifically for the problems faced by the farmers in the Tiripur, Coimbatore and Erode districts. The project is expected to benefit approximately 9,900 hectares of cultivable land.
Lately, new areas have been added under the Vellore City Municipal Corporation (Phase lll), Tamil Nadu. A project for constructing an underground sewerage collection system to these areas has been agreed under the AMRUT Scheme. In Jharkand, the company has acquired the project for the execution of the Garwah Lift Irrigation Scheme. They received it from the state’s Water and Resources Department under EPC (Engineering Procurement and Construction) basis. Farmers are going to benefit from this project. As well as it aims to fill 366 ponds and other water bodies in the Garwah district. It covers an area of about 51,628 hectares.
Furthermore, the other project from Jharkand is for integrated Infrastructure Development which will focus on the areas including street lighting systems, land development in ABD(area based development) of Ranchi smart city on an EPC basis, storm water drainage, transport and circulation, power infrastructure etc. A project in Odisha will fulfill the drinking water requirements of 747 villages in the district and also to execute a mega lift irrigation project Cluster lV.
Power Transmission order:
Another order has been achieved for design and construction of a 220kV Gas Insulated Substation and its associated transmission lines and cables in Jharkhand. This substation and connected transmission systems are with a view to ensure continuous power supply for the Ranchi Smart City.
Municipal Corporation and Metro Rail construction contract:
The contract for the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation for the design and construction of Phase 2 works has been acquired with an estimated order worth of Rs 2500 to Rs 5000 crore, the company’s engineering major stated on 6th March, 2019. The project includes construction of underground tunnels and junctions from Vellara station to Shivajinagar station. Also, construction of three underground metro stations at Vellara, Shivajinagar and M.G Road. The construction of the junction from Shivajinagar station is a 2.884 km long project which means it will stretch up to Tannery road station.
Infrastructure Re-development Contract:
Factories and Building business of the company has also acquired a project to restructure and develop the IIT Hyderabad campus, in Kandi. Another project from a real estate development company has been signed termed as the Asset-13 project which consists of building parking spaces, office complex, hotel building and also international conference.
