Cash credit
A cash credit is a short-term facility availed by company to meet it’s working capital requirement. The working capital is generally required for purchase of raw materials, for financing receivables, for making payment to employees and for meeting other routine expenses of the business. Based on the eligibility the entity can avail cash credit limit and draw on the continuous basis upto the specified limit. The primary security to avail finance is raw materials, work-in-process, finished goods and stock-in-trade, including stores and spares, however bank may call for additional collateral on the case to case basis.
 
Letter of credit
A letter of credit is a documentary credit whereby a bank guarantees a seller to receive payment in full as long as certain delivery conditions specified in the underlying contract have been met. Letter of credit can be issued in favour of domestic or international entity, and can involve credit period (usance) as per the terms and conditions of the contract. Letter of credits issued can also be further discounted by the banks, thereby arranging for the funds for the beneficiary on the immediate basis.
 
Packing credit & post shipment credit
Pre-shipment/Packing Credit' refers to advance granted by a bank to an exporter for financing the purchase, processing, manufacturing and packing of goods prior to shipment. Pre-shipment can be availed in Rupee or other foreign currencies, and is backed by irrevocable order for the export of goods or services from India. 'Post-shipment Credit' refers to advance granted by a bank for an export of goods from India from the date of shipment of goods to the date of realisation of export proceeds as per the period of realization. It also covers the export of services and payment consideration of duty drawback allowed by the government.
 
Buyer’s credit
Buyer's credit is availed by the importer (buyer) from overseas lenders such as banks and other financial institution for purchase of goods from the international market. The overseas banks usually lends the importer (buyer) based on the letter of comfort (a bank guarantee) issued by the importer's bank for which the importer's bank charges a fee called an arrangement fee.
 
 
Bank Guarantee
Bank Guarantee is issued by the Bank whereby the Bank agrees to stand as guarantor against the non-performance or default of the contract by a particular party. In case of the invocation of the guarantee the beneficiary gets claim proceeds from the issuing bank. There are various types of guarantees such as Bid Bond Guarantee, Performance Guarantee, Advance payment Guarantee etc depending on the nature of the contract.
 
Term loans
Term Loans are generally offered to meet the expenditure related to expansion, purchase of fixed assets, purchase of machinery etc. The loan can be of short, medium or long term in nature depending upon the purpose of the loan. Loans can also be extended for the period of less than a year to meet the short term mismatches in the working capital funds, known as “Working Capital Demand Loan”.
