Rakesh Jhunjhunwala was born on the 5th of July in 1960, in Mumbai, India. He is a trader and Indian Investor. He completed his graduation from Sydenham college and later proceeded to Chartered Accountancy. He manages his own portfolio through his asset management firm, Rare Enterprises. The India Today magazine described him as the “pin-up boy of the current bull run”. The Economic times described him as “Pied Piper of Indian Bourses.”
He is chairman of the Aptech Limited and Hungama Digital Media Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. along with being on the board of directors of a number of Indian Companies like Bilcare Limited, Concord Biotech Limited, Prima Focus Limited, Provogue India Limited, Innovasynth Technologies, Praj Industries Limited, Viceroy Hotels Limited, Mid-Day Multimedia Limited, Top Securities Limited and Nagarjuna Construction Company Limited. He maintains a 23.2% stake in A2Z Maintenance.
In December 2011, Jhunjhunwala’s stock tumbled by 30% and it took him February 2012 to recover his money. Because of the trends, he had to cut down his portfolio to one-third. But his move to divest his stocks in Aptech found no takers. Subsequently, he increased his stake in Aptech in May 2012 by 2.24% and now holds 12.7%. He is also credited as a producer of the 2016 movie “Ki and Ka”.
